The Brigades of the Quds Serayah (the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement) announced that, in the early hours of this morning, a group of armed men affiliated with the Palestinian armed group supported by Israel attempted to capture a fighter from “Takmet al-Qaeda” (which is part of the “Brigades of Khan Yunis” of the Islamic Jihad movement).
Reports indicate that the armed men, who are likely part of a small armed group affiliated with the Popular Forces called the “Free Homeland Forces,” advanced into territory controlled by the Islamic Jihad movement in the ruins of al-Qaeda using cover from Israeli drones.
Palestinian fighters from the Quds Serayah identified the infiltrators during the hostage-taking operation and responded by firing light weapons and bursts of gunfire, which, according to reports, resulted in some of these forces being killed and wounded. The militants apparently failed to capture the Islamic Jihad fighter and therefore executed him at the scene, and withdrew with their wounded under the cover of attacks from Israeli drones.
