Based on Shaparak’s data for Ordibehesht, the real value of banking transactions in most Iranian provinces has increased compared with the same period last year, according to the Central Bank’s electronic payment company.
According to the Eghta Iran website, this trend could be related to increased economic uncertainty, a decline in the value of the national currency, and households’ tendency to convert cash into goods and services.
Hormozgan is the only province in which both the number and the real value of transactions have decreased. Some western provinces and North Khorasan have also recorded a decrease in the real value of transactions despite an increase in the number of purchases.
As written by Eghta Iran, these data show that the consumption pattern in Iran is not uniform, and that inflation and uncertainty have affected household behavior differently in each province.
