🔶 Alcohol consumption at all train stations in Germany will be banned

Deutsche Bahn, the national railway company of Germany, plans to prohibit alcohol consumption at all 5,400 train stations in the country from this autumn.

According to the newspaper “Bild,” in the future, drinking beer, wine, strong alcoholic beverages, or any other type of alcoholic drink will be banned across Germany at platforms or in station halls—outside of restaurants and catering facilities inside stations.

The nationwide rollout of this plan is expected to be completed by October 15, 2026. Deutsche Bahn confirmed the program in response to questions from the German news agency.

First Pal, head of Germany’s national railway company, told the newspaper “Bild”: “That’s enough. It’s been enough. From now on we will be even stricter. We want more order and security in our stations and trains. For me, only one thing matters: protecting our colleagues and our passengers.”

Recently, a dangerous incident on a regional train in the state of Baden-Württemberg attracted widespread attention throughout Germany. During the incident, one of Deutsche Bahn’s security staff was thrown out of the train after a fight with a passenger who had been drinking alcohol.

Until now, the ban on alcohol consumption had mainly been applied in major German stations such as Frankfurt, Hamburg, or Cologne. Now this state-owned company intends to expand these regulations across the country, citing its right to manage premises.
