Axios reported that CENTCOM is investigating the source of a deadly explosion at a wedding ceremony in Koushtak, in Sikek County, and is reviewing footage from drones that monitored the area during the attack.
According to Axios, the investigation is also examining how American forces identified and selected the target in order to determine on what basis the attack was carried out.
A U.S. official said the investigation is pursuing two possibilities: that ordnance fired by U.S. forces struck the house where the wedding was held, or that Iranian-destined munitions that were diverted fell nearby.
So far, U.S. officials have not publicly provided evidence to confirm either of these two possibilities, and it has not yet been independently established what caused the explosion.
The Kremlin spokesperson also said it is unlikely that the United States will be able to put relations with any country in its own hands, adding that Russia has partners and friends and will develop ties with them.
