👈Axios on the secret meeting between Iran and the UAE

Axios has claimed that an Iranian delegation traveled to Abu Dhabi in an unofficial manner on 20 Mordad (August 10) and discussed with Emirati officials reducing tensions and improving relations.

Based on this report, Iranian officials also asked for the UAE’s help to provide items such as food and medicine and to not support U.S. sanctions; a request that Axios says was rejected by Abu Dhabi.

The outlet also claimed that a few days later, after attacks on the UAE oil tankers intensified in the Strait of Hormuz, relations between the two sides faced even greater tension and that the UAE decided to halt commercial relations with Iran.
