ABC News, citing two U.S. officials, reported that the U.S. State Department is actively reviewing the launch of a task force to help American citizens who have been stranded due to the escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

The task force, which is expected to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, will be similar to the task force that was formed in the first weeks of the U.S. military operation against the Islamic Republic.

At that time, the U.S. State Department moved quickly to handle the requests of thousands of Americans who had been suddenly stranded in the Middle East.

The move comes as more and more airlines cancel their scheduled flights to the Middle East and have informed the State Department that they may extend the suspension of their flights.

ABC wrote that it does not appear that the State Department is taking steps to dissuade airlines from these decisions, but rather it appears the ministry has accepted existing risks and is focusing on addressing the potential consequences of them.
