A trade adviser of the Islamic Republic in Doha says that Iran–Qatar bilateral trade has resumed after an approximately five-month interruption. Abbas Abdolkhani said on Sunday that Qatar’s Al Ruwais port has begun accepting Iranian goods again. Previously, the Islamic Republic had reported the renewed shipment of cargo between Iran and the United Arab Arab Emirates. Despite this, unlike the UAE—which, before the Strait of Hormuz was blocked and the Islamic Republic’s attacks on regional Arab countries, had been Iran’s largest trading partner after China—Qatar does not have a significant share in Iran’s foreign trade. Trade figures from the chamber of commerce show that Iran–Qatar bilateral trade does not even reach $250 million annually; while Iran–UAE non-oil bilateral trade is over $30 billion, and in addition, the UAE is also a buyer of Iran’s oil products.
