A Saudi Arabia-led military coalition warned that it would respond to any attempt to target Saudi Arabia or violate the sovereignty of Yemen’s lawful government “with unprecedented determination and power.” Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, had claimed on Friday that Saudi aircraft had tried to prevent the landing of an Iranian passenger plane at Sana’a airport. He warned that “comprehensive” attacks on Saudi airports and other vital targets of the country would be carried out. On Saturday, Turki Al-Maliki, the spokesperson for the Saudi-led military coalition, said in response to the Houthi threats that the coalition would respond—within the framework of customary international humanitarian law and with unprecedented determination and power—to any attempt to target Saudi Arabia, its citizens, residents, and national assets, or any action to violate the sovereignty of the government of Yemen. He accused the Houthis of trying to “export to the outside the economic disasters and suffering they themselves have imposed on the people of Yemen.”
