They have executed people many times—heroes whose names we didn’t even know, and we couldn’t find any photo of them, except in their forced confession videos.

If you have a loved one in prison who is facing the threat of execution, please don’t be fooled by the games of the interrogators and lawyers. Silence only tightens the noose.

Do not trust any interrogator, lawyer, or reformist who tells you to stay silent and not publicize the news. Right now, make your voice heard, contact human-rights institutions outside the country, or at least publicize the issue.

Don’t let your loved ones be taken away from you in silence and without information.

🔺 Why silence in the media is harmful to the prisoner?

1) Reducing the cost for those issuing sentences: The legal and international costs of issuing harsh rulings for someone nobody knows is far lower than for a person whose name is already known to the public.

2) Moving the case forward in the dark: When a case is not publicized, security institutions move ahead with their own scenarios (such as forced confessions) with full freedom, without any external pressure or oversight.

3) Retreat due to pressure from public opinion: Experience shows that, in many cases, creating a media wave, Twitter storms, and reactions from human-rights institutions has been able to stop the execution, pull the case into a re-examination, or reduce the punishment.
