After more than 260 days of operations, the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln is returning home following an assessment of the conditions reported on this ship.

Kao, the current Navy minister, said that the ship "successfully completed its operations" and that its return is part of a "planned pivot," adding: "The safety and security of our sailors and Marines is always the top priority."

Reports have been published about shortages in supplies, food spoilage, mold on the showers, and concerns related to mental health.

Kao acknowledged that the sailors have been "put under pressure to the extent possible," but rejected the portrayal of them as victims and said: "They are rightfully tired, but they have never left the battlefield."

The aircraft carrier spent about 200 days in the war zone, carried out more than 10,000 flights, and released nearly 1.5 million pounds of munitions.

The aircraft carrier George Washington will be deployed to replace it.
