🔺UN warning about the return of widespread war to Yemen

▪Hans Grundberg, the United Nations special envoy for Yemen, warned that the country has been facing the highest risk of a resumption of a broad conflict since the ceasefire brokered by the UN in April 2022.

▪The warning came after recent Houthi attacks on Saudi forces and Yemeni government forces, as well as the resumption of attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

▪Grundberg said that taken together, these developments could undo the achievements of the 2022 ceasefire and the relative calm in recent years inside Yemen, and draw the country into a wider regional confrontation; a situation, he said, could have devastating consequences for the people of Yemen.
