🔻UK maritime trade operations organization reports an incident in the Strait of Hormuz

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has said it received a report about an incident involving a merchant vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement issued by the organization on Tuesday, 8 September / 17 Shahrivar, it said the vessel, within the framework of “ongoing military activities in the region, encountered an interaction or confrontation.”

The organization did not publish further details about the nature of this interaction, the identities of the parties involved, or the vessel’s status.

According to the statement, the responsible authorities are aware of the incident and the related investigations are still ongoing

The warning was issued while, in recent days, as military tensions between the United States and Iran have intensified, several tankers and commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman have been targeted by attacks or have been involved in military activities.
