The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and its 55 member federations, in a joint statement, categorically opposed FIFA’s proposal for “transferring the ownership interests of the World Cup” and other competitions of this body to private investors, and warned that if this plan is pursued, UEFA member national teams will not participate in FIFA competitions.
