🔻Two people detained in London on suspicion of helping Iran’s intelligence service

Metropolitan Police London has announced that two people were detained in the city on suspicion of helping Iran’s intelligence service.

On Wednesday, a 60-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman were arrested in London during investigations into possible offenses related to the “National Security Act” (NSA).

According to the Metropolitan Police, the two suspects, who were detained on suspicion of collaborating with a foreign intelligence service, have been released on bail and under strict conditions until the end of October.

Police have not identified the two individuals.

The police statement says “these arrests have no connection to any of the incidents or attacks that took place earlier this year (March) against Jewish and Iranian communities across London.”

Between March and May, a series of incidents occurred against London’s Jewish community or sites related to Iran, which began with an arson attack targeting ambulances belonging to the Jewish community in London.

After that, a synagogue and a former synagogue were targeted. The Iran International TV network and a memorial wall dedicated to those killed in Iran were also attacked.
