The Wall Street Journal: President Trump refrained from issuing a license for a new attack against Iran, while regional mediators made new progress toward a proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf governments urged Washington to pursue diplomacy.
Qatari mediators on Friday presented a new proposal to reopen this strategic waterway to Iran, and Iranian diplomats responded positively, raising hopes of reaching a compromise.
An Iranian diplomat confirmed that Tehran has expressed its willingness toward this proposal, while regional officials said Iran has also put forward new ideas aimed at reopening the Strait and easing restrictions on its oil exports.
