🔶 The Wall Street Journal: Iran likely used support from China or Russia to target a U.S. base in Jordan
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, U.S. officials believe the Islamic Republic’s ballistic missiles that targeted the U.S. airbase in Jordan’s Muwaffaq al-Salti likely made use of “intelligence support from China or Russia” for targeting.
However, the report provides no specific evidence, and neither Beijing nor Moscow has responded to the reported speculation.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the base is protected by the THAAD missile defense system, but the system’s radar had previously been damaged in March during an Islamic Republic drone attack, and the U.S. military had replaced the damaged component.
According to U.S. officials, in the Islamic Republic’s attack on the Muwaffaq al-Salti base, two American military personnel were killed, several were injured, and one service member was also missing.
According to the statement by CENTCOM, the damage and injuries occurred while American military forces were responding to missile and drone attacks.
