The prime minister and foreign minister of Qatar, on Tuesday, in a phone call with Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister, discussed regional developments and efforts to reduce tensions.
According to the office of Qatar’s prime minister, the talks emphasized the importance of all parties adhering to diplomacy and implementing what had been agreed upon in the understandings between the United States and the Islamic Republic. “Ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz” was one of the topics discussed by the parties in this call.
After the Islamic Republic’s understanding with Islamabad, it disrupted the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz by closing and threatening it, to the extent that, based on data from the shipping company Kpler, only three commercial vessels passed through the strait on Tuesday.
Qatar’s prime minister also added that his country supports any efforts to reduce tensions and reach a comprehensive agreement for lasting peace in the region.
