The New York Times, citing U.S. officials who did not want to be named, reported that the Pentagon had not publicly announced several Iran attacks on U.S. forces in Jordan before the deadly attack on Friday.

According to the report, the previous attacks had injured dozens of American servicemembers and also damaged several helicopters.

U.S. military officials also said that the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) is not required to publicly release figures on military injuries—especially in cases where the injured forces return to duty in a short period of time.
