Reuters, citing shipping data, reported that the number of commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz fell to fewer than 10 vessels on Wednesday, 18 Shahrivar; while the average number of transits over the past 10 days has been about 14 ships per day.

Based on preliminary data from Kpler, on Tuesday only six commercial vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz; five entered that waterway and one exited. The figure on Monday was nine.

Transit figures may change as new data are received, because some ships turn off their location transponders when passing through the area.

Commercial traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has declined sharply in recent months. Before the outbreak of the war, about 130 to 140 ships transited the waterway per day.
