New bills from parliament: 2 to 6 months in prison for any form of scientific cooperation with universities, institutions, and foreign organizations that the Ministry of Intelligence does not approve. 6 months to 2 years in prison for interviews, participation in chat shows, or any form of contact with American media or media that the United States funds. 5 to 10 years in prison for the organizers of in-person or virtual courses, classes, or educational workshops that are incompatible with Iranian culture; 6 months to 2 years in prison also for participants in these courses. Life-long disqualification for producing or directing films, documentaries, theater, music, and books that promote anti-Islamic culture or depict a dark image of the country. 6 months to 2 years in prison if financial assistance or contracts are received by organizations, associations, groups, and parties with foreign embassies and foreign governmental and non-governmental institutions. 30 years in prison for proposing political, legal, or executive measures to state and governmental institutions that go against the system’s main interests, or for pushing the people’s votes in favor of a particular group or current.
