Mostafa Deh Pehlevan, an archaeologist and former head of the Cultural Heritage Research Institute, has warned about the expansion of land subsidence in Iran’s historic sites and called it a “civilizational crisis.”

In an interview with “Iran24,” he said that Naqsh-e Jahan Square and the historic fabric of Isfahan, the Marvdasht plain, Persepolis, Pasargadae, and Naqsh-e Rostam are among the sites facing the risk of subsidence.
