The Iranian parliament (Majles شورای اسلامی) approved a bill titled “Countering the influence of intelligence services, governments or foreign entities”; a resolution that introduces new restrictions on scientific, civic, and cultural activities.
Under this resolution, scientific cooperation with foreign universities and institutes is only permitted through centers approved by the Ministry of Intelligence, and interviews with foreign media, the sending of information, or the production of cultural works without a government permit can carry up to two years in prison.
