The Islamic Republic announced the discovery of a new gas field in the south of the country, in Fars Province. According to Iran’s oil minister, the field has more than 7.5 trillion cubic feet of gas. About 5.7 trillion cubic feet of this amount is extractable.

According to the oil minister, the extractable amount of this gas is equivalent to the production of one phase of the large gas field “South Fars” for about 15 years. It was also announced that this gas is “pure,” and for that reason, its development and extraction will be cheaper. The field also has quantities of liquefied gas.
