Ibrahim Azizi, head of the Parliament’s National Security Commission, said on Sunday, 29 Shahrivar: “It was supposed that an agreement regarding the Strait of Hormuz would be unveiled in Muscat, with the presence of a number of countries from the southern shores of the Persian Gulf, so that everyone would be informed about it, but it was postponed. If we make sure that the Omanis carried out this action under the influence of the Americans, then this issue will certainly not be to the benefit of our friendly, neighboring, and brotherly country, Oman, nor the security of the region—especially the Strait of Hormuz.”

Azizi said the Islamic Republic will not allow the Americans to return to the Persian Gulf region and that “a renewed negotiation with the United States” has “no meaning.”

He also said that if membership in the NPT no longer ensures the interests of the Islamic Republic, Tehran will “make the appropriate decision.”
