On Sunday, the fourth of Mordad, the human rights organization “Haalvosh” reported that a severe explosion occurred on the Zahedan–Khash axis, in the area of the Khonjak Train Station, by publishing a video on its Telegram channel.

According to Haalvosh’s report, the intensity of the blast was such that many residents of surrounding areas and nearby villages, in the first moments, thought that an earthquake had occurred.

After the publication of this report, officials of the Islamic Republic also confirmed that the explosion took place. Tasnim News Agency, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, citing local officials, said that the source of the incident was an roadside bomb.

Haalvosh wrote that officials of the Islamic Republic, through publishing statements and making remarks, said that following the explosion of this bomb, part of the Zahedan–Khash transit route was damaged.

Government media, citing local officials, claimed that the explosion resulted from a “sabotage act,” and that it caused damage to part of the asphalt on this route. These media outlets also attributed responsibility for this act to groups opposed to the Islamic Republic.
