🔶 Four Indian sailors killed in a missile attack; India summoned Russia’s chargé d’affaires

After four Indian sailors were killed in the course of a missile attack in the Black Sea, India’s Ministry of External Affairs summoned a senior Russian diplomat.

The Ministry of External Affairs said that Vladimir Ladanev, the chargé d’affaires of the Russian embassy in New Delhi, had been called in and was asked to convey India’s “deep concern” to Moscow.

In a statement, the ministry said: “Attacks on civilian vessels and the killing of civilians are unacceptable.”

The ministry also emphasized that such attacks endanger the security and stability of international maritime trade.

According to statements by Ukrainian officials, on Sunday, July 19 (28 Tir), Russia targeted the cargo ship “Golden Leo,” which was flying the flag of Guinea-Bissau, with three cruise missiles as it was leaving one of Ukraine’s ports.

In the attack, 10 people were killed, four of whom were citizens of India. The ship’s crew consisted of Indian and Syrian sailors.

It was also announced that the owner of the ship is Ocean Grace Shipping, based in Mumbai, India.
