Donald Trump, the U.S. president, said at a gathering of Republicans for the midterm elections in Dallas that the price of oil would fall after the United States’ victory in its war with the Islamic Republic, and that Washington has control of the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump said: “We are winning. We have control of the Strait of Hormuz.” He then suggested changing the name of this waterway to “Trump Strait” and said: “I think we should name it the Trump Strait. I should get something out of this.”

Donald Trump, the U.S. president, added that he would make a statement about this proposal in the future and, with a hint, said he is sure the leaders of the Islamic Republic will be “excited” about the change of the name of the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump also said that the Islamic Republic is no longer the dominant power in the region and added: “Their country is collapsing. They were the bully of the Middle East for 51 years and they are no longer the bully.”

Trump had previously also proposed changing the name of the Strait of Hormuz to “Trump Strait” and, on September 2, wrote on Truth Social that, given what he called America’s control over this waterway, its name should be changed.
