The deputy minister of energy in charge of electricity says that 450 megawatts of electricity are expected to be imported from Turkey to meet the needs of petrochemicals.

Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi said that all the coordination has been done and the Turkish side is also ready to transfer electricity to Iran.

He announced that the power generation of the power plants of the petrochemical complexes is 650 thousand megawatts.

During the recent war, Israel targeted the electricity power plants of Mahshahr and Assaluyeh, the two main hubs of Iran’s petrochemical production.

According to an official report by the National Petrochemical Company, before the Israeli attack, the electricity generation capacity of the power plants in Mahshahr and Assaluyeh was more than 3,100 megawatts, an issue that shows that most of the power plants of these complexes have been destroyed.

Rajabi Mashhadi says that this year, at most 1,000 megawatts of electricity for petrochemicals damaged by the nationwide grid has been supplied. Accordingly, currently only half of the electricity needed by the petrochemicals in southern Iran is being supplied.

Last year, Iran became a net importer of electricity for the first time.
