The spokesperson of Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Leventi Gümröko, on Turkey’s F-35 fighter jets:
This time, we truly feel closer. We feel that we may be able to resolve this issue and remove that problem from our way. I say this because, for the first time in history, and specifically over the past 10 to 15 years, we have complete trust in the U.S. government that when we reach an agreement, they will also fulfill their commitments. And this is not just about the sale of F-35 fighter jets or Turkey returning to the F-35 program, as it was previously partly. Of course, this is about establishing a deeper cooperation in the defense industry between the United States and Turkey, taking into account our relative advantages and considering the importance of this matter. This is what makes us more hopeful than anything else.
