🔻CENTCOM: We brought 12 ships back from Iran’s blockade and disabled two tankers from moving

The U.S. Central Command, CENTCOM, says that Iran’s maritime blockade continues to be implemented in full, and that U.S. forces have redirected the route of 12 commercial vessels that intended to pass through the blockade until July 25. It says they disabled two vessels for not complying with the directive to stop moving, and entered two other ships to ensure that the blockade was being observed.

CENTCOM said that on Saturday, American forces boarded the tanker “Charminar,” flying the flag of Comoros, to inspect it and check its destination, and that the ship was then allowed to continue its voyage after the operation ended.

Based on this statement, American forces on Friday also disabled the tanker “Lavin,” flying the flag of Mozambique, in the Gulf of Oman. CENTCOM claims that the crew of this ship had attempted several times to pass through the blockade and had ignored repeated warnings from U.S. forces. The tanker is no longer heading toward Iran.

The United States resumed the blockade on July 14 against ships that are traveling to or from ports and coastal areas in Iran.
