Behnam Tablou, senior director of the Iran program at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said the initial 60-day agreement between the Islamic Republic and the United States over the Strait of Hormuz effectively did not last more than two to three weeks.
He added that the diplomatic deadlock over the Strait of Hormuz was predictable, and that, with the decision by Donald Trump’s administration to intensify the maximum pressure policy and impose a maritime blockade, the Islamic Republic may respond in the coming weeks with a military and unconventional move.
