🔻 At least 10 killed in Houthi attacks on Yemen’s Marib province

Following the escalation of Houthi attacks on the oil-rich province of Marib in Yemen, at least 10 people were killed on Friday.

A Yemeni military source told AFP that in the latest Houthi attacks in Marib, eight government forces were killed and another 12 were injured. The health minister of the Saudi-backed government also said that shelling of residential areas and refugee camps in the city of Marib killed at least two civilians and wounded 14 people.

The Houthis have announced that they targeted a government military camp in Marib province.

The attacks were carried out one day after Houthi missile attacks on Marib killed at least 58 government forces. The 2022 ceasefire between Iran-backed Houthis and the Saudi-backed Yemeni government collapsed last month.

Hans Grundberg, the United Nations special envoy for Yemen, has warned that the country is now facing the risk of a return to a broad conflict more than at any time since the UN-monitored ceasefire in April 2022. Amid tensions between the United States and Iran, he called on both sides to exercise restraint and return to talks conducted “in good faith.”
