🔶 Abdullah Mohtadi: 9 Peshmerga lost their lives in an IRGC drone attack
Abdullah Mohtadi, First Secretary of the “Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran,” reported on Friday, 26 Tir (17 July), on the X network: “One of the Komala camps, located in the Zergvez area in Iraqi Kurdistan, was subjected to severe and heavy rocket attacks by the IRGC of the terrorist regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In these criminal attacks, unfortunately 9 of the peshmerga fighters lost their lives and several others were wounded.”
Abdullah Azarbar, a member of the political office of Komala as well, also held Tehran responsible for the attack and told the news agency “Rudaw”: “Iran bombed this base with six powerful and large missiles.”
Zergvez is located south of Sulaymaniyah, and is where some Iranian Kurdish parties’ camps are based.
The security organization of Iraqi Kurdistan also announced immediately after the attack that, in total, seven missiles were launched; four missiles hit Zergvez, one missile hit Qasdari, and two missiles hit near the villages of Gardi Kopani in Sulaymaniyah. The organization added that investigations to determine the extent of human casualties and material damage
Based on information from Rudaw, at least 20 newly joined members of the Kurdistan Komala Party of Iran were present at the targeted base in Zergvez.
