🔸Yemen’s internationally recognized government forces announced that, following intense clashes with Iran-backed Houthis, they have taken full control of the Al Hais district in the southern part of Al Hudaydah province.
🔸Al Hais is considered a strategic area due to its location along the route connecting the provinces of Al Hudaydah, Ta‘izz, and Ibb, and its proximity to the Red Sea coast. The Houthis have not yet responded to this report.
🔸Yemen’s government officials also reported the start of a counteroffensive in the Al-Jarahi district and the capture of dozens of Houthi forces. The fighting is taking place along the western coastal front lines and routes leading to the port of Mocha and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
🔸According to reports, in the Saturday fighting in Ta‘izz, more than 60 people, including a number of civilians, were killed. The United Nations has also said that the escalation in fighting over the past two days has displaced nearly 1,800 families.
🔸Rashad Al-Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen, had warned on Friday that the country’s government and armed forces would not allow, “under any circumstances,” the realization of what it called “Iran’s goal to control the Bab al-Mandab Strait.”
