The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said the discovery of hundreds of bodies under the rubble of destroyed buildings in Israeli attacks on Gaza has raised fresh concerns about the possible commission of a war crime.
Volker Türk said in a statement: “These findings have revived concerns raised in the UN report for 2024.”
The report referred to Israel’s attacks on residential buildings and other civilian sites in the first weeks of the war and said it might have violated international humanitarian law.
More than 8,000 people are still buried under the rubble.
