UK Maritime Trade Operations organization said several commercial vessels were targeted in the north of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman

The UK Maritime Trade Operations organization said that several commercial vessels in the north of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman were targeted on Tuesday evening during military activity.

The organization, which is affiliated with the UK Navy, said it cannot confirm casualties or environmental impact.

Separately, the UK Maritime Trade Operations organization reported another incident 24 nautical miles off the port of Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates. A vessel in the anchorage was seen in an unbalanced condition, which was likely a sign of taking on water after being hit by an unidentified projectile.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Central Command said it destroyed five Iranian crude oil tankers after unsuccessful attempts by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to target a U.S. warship.

Earlier, the IRGC, in two separate statements, announced that in response to the U.S. attack on five Iranian tankers, it had targeted two U.S. vessels, eight tankers, and 10 “noncompliant” ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The statements said the 10 ships “intended to pass through the prohibited and unsafe area of the Strait of Hormuz” with the prompting and support of the U.S. Army.”
