U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said it completed the third round of this week’s attacks against the Islamic Republic on July 11; attacks, according to the command, carried out to hold Islamic Republic forces accountable for an attack on another commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
In this operation, U.S. forces targeted about 140 military sites of the Islamic Republic using precision-guided munitions fired from land- and sea-based fighter aircraft, drones, and naval force vessels. These targets included missile and drone positions, naval capabilities, ammunition depots, communications networks, and coastal surveillance centers.
CENTCOM added that, during three nights of attacks this week, at the order of the Commander-in-Chief, U.S. forces have targeted more than 300 sites to reduce the Islamic Republic’s ability to attack nonmilitary seafarers and commercial ships that freely transit through the Strait.
