🔶 Trump to Britain on the Falklands: In the Strait of Hormuz, you did not come to help me
Donald Trump, the U.S. president, said in an interview with the “GB News” network that in the event of a possible dispute over the Falkland Islands—an longstanding territorial disagreement between Argentina and the UK—he would not help Britain, because this country did not stand with the United States in its war with Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.
The remarks come after reports from last week indicated that if the British government does not increase its defense budget, the U.S. may reconsider its official and neutral position regarding sovereignty over the islands.
Javier Milei, the president of Argentina, had previously said that before the end of Thursday, September 3 (12 Shahrivar), he would broadcast a national statement about the Falkland Islands on television.
Addressing Britain, Trump said: “Don’t forget, you get a big part of your oil from the Strait of Hormuz and you weren’t there to help me... We didn’t need help, but I asked NATO and your previous leader, ‘Why didn’t you send any ships?’ He said, ‘We don’t have any ships,’ and the whole situation was very upsetting.”
