🔶 Trump’s strategy against Iran: Is an endless war on the way?

U.S. President Donald Trump has nearly given an exact explanation of what the new phase of war with Iran could look like. After the latest broad wave of U.S. attacks, Trump said that Iranians had tried to rebuild their radar systems.

He then added: “We waited until they almost rebuilt them again, and then we attacked them.”

On Tuesday, September 1 (Shahrivar 10), American forces once again attacked multiple targets in Iran. According to the U.S. Central Command, CENTCOM, in these attacks, among other things, radar and air-defense systems, naval facilities, equipment and capabilities for maritime mine-laying, and communication systems were destroyed.

In response, Iran attacked U.S. facilities and positions in the Middle East region with missiles and drones. Thus, what CENTCOM had mentioned a few days earlier as a possible strategy for the next stage of the war has now been carried out.

Based on information published by the Axios news website, limited attacks that, if needed, are to be repeated are intended to prevent Iran from rebuilding its military capabilities in the Strait of Hormuz region.

A U.S. government official described this idea using a term taken from Israel’s security policy: “mowing the lawn.”

This metaphor refers to a strategy that does not promise the final and complete defeat of the enemy. It is enough that its military capabilities are regularly reduced to such an extent that the threat remains manageable. Whenever “the grass” grows again, it is “cut.”

If we apply this concept to Iran’s situation, it means that the United States monitors what military capabilities the enemy is rebuilding, and whenever those capabilities go beyond a certain threshold, it attacks them.

In recent months, the United States has managed to achieve some military successes. U.S. forces have significantly reduced Iran’s military capabilities in the Strait of Hormuz region, and they have also begun clearing Iran’s naval mines.
