The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it intercepted and destroyed an advanced American MQ-1 drone at dawn on Tuesday in the western Strait of Hormuz.

Based on the public relations statement of the IRGC, the drone was targeted by the new air defense system of the aerospace force of the institution and under the command of the country’s integrated air defense network.

This is the second claim of an aerial interception in the Strait of Hormuz in recent days. The air defense of the Army of the Islamic Republic also announced last week that it had shot down the American MQ-1 drone in the southeast of the country.

U.S. Central Command has not issued a response.
