📸 Rural tourism: Why has Iran failed to globalize its villages?

The Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism has announced that it intends to prepare eight villages as representatives to compete in the “Best Tourism Villages in the World in 2026.” The dream of making Iran’s villages known worldwide will not come true so easily, given decaying infrastructure, migration, the destruction of historical textures, and weak protection of rural heritage. Nevertheless, Iran still has villages with exceptional capacities that, if they were not caught up in mismanagement, could have made it onto the list of the best tourism villages in the world.
