🔶 Request by two Israeli ministers to revoke the citizenship of the makers of “Naza”

Following the success of the documentary “Naza” at the Venice Film Festival, two Israeli government ministers criticized its makers and called for punishment. Miki Zohar, Israel’s Minister of Culture, said he would act to revoke the Israeli citizenship of Rachel Sours and Yuval Avraham, the two directors of this documentary.

On the X social media network, Zohar accused these filmmakers of “betrayal of the country” and said they are willing to harm their own country in order to win applause from “anti-Semitic people around the world.” He added that he would “immediately” take action to revoke their Israeli citizenship.

The documentary “Naza” received the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday, 21 Shahrivar (12 September). During its first showing in Venice, it faced 25 minutes of standing ovation from the audience, and critics also welcomed it.

In this documentary, a number of Israeli military and intelligence officials anonymously talk about how Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip are killed by the Israeli army.
