The new video from Unit 2 of Qezel Hesar Prison shows the ninth day of a hunger strike by about 1,500 prisoners sentenced to death. Prisoners say that despite the worsening of their physical condition, they are continuing their protest. Some of them have sewn their lips and are holding placards reading “No to execution,” calling for an end to the implementation of death sentences. The prisoners also, referring to the proposed amendment to the law on combating drugs, have asked members of parliament to speed up the process of reviewing and implementing it; a bill which, according to them, despite being approved as an urgent matter on 9 Dey 1402, has not yet been implemented. The Balochistan Human Rights Documents network also reported the deployment of security forces in front of the prison and the threat to protesters by claiming to have “the right to shoot” toward those gathered.
