Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the dismantling of unauthorized settler outposts in the occupied West Bank, according to the Associated Press, citing two people familiar with the matter.

The order applies to outposts established without official authorization from the Israeli state. Israeli website Ynet reported that around 100 outposts could be targeted, although it remains unclear when any operation will begin.

The move comes amid pressure from the US over settler violence against Palestinians. US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee recently condemned violent settlers as “terrorists” and called for severe consequences.

Separately, Israel’s Supreme Court ruled that defense authorities must enable three Palestinian families to safely return to their homes in the West Bank village of Jalud, after they were forced out by settlers.

Most governments and UN bodies consider Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law. Israel disputes this position and says the territory’s status remains unresolved.
