Israel announces the end of its mission in Ali al-Taher; a “force-reduction plan” in southern Lebanon

🔸The Israeli army says it has completed the main phase of its operation to clear Hezbollah’s underground network in the strategic heights of “Ali al-Taher” in southern Lebanon.

🔸At the same time, the Israeli network “Kan” reported on Saturday, 14 Shahrivar, that “after the destruction of the tunnels in the heights of Ali al-Taher,” the country’s army is preparing to significantly reduce its forces in southern Lebanon and relocate part of its positions to an area closer to the border.

🔸Late Thursday evening, the Israeli army announced that its forces had gained operational control of the heights of Ali al-Taher at ground level and underground, and had cleared two underground routes of Hezbollah in this area.

🔸Media close to the Iranian government, including Tasnim News Agency and IRIB, on Friday morning rejected this Israeli army claim. However, that same day, a journalist close to government-affiliated media who is present in the region conceded that “Ali al-Taher has fallen in a military sense and in terms of firing, and the enemy has gained operational control over it.”

🔸So far, Hezbollah has not published any official and detailed explanation about the outcome of the clashes, the status of its forces, or the underground facilities in this area, and officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran—this group’s main supporter—have also not issued an official response to Israel’s announcement of the end of its mission in Ali al-Taher.
