Ismail Baghaei, spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic, described Canada’s statement supporting the Washington administration’s economic war against Tehran as “complicity in lawbreaking.”

According to the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic, he said: “Exactly on the same day that the U.S. president, with disrespect, depicts the entire country of Canada as part of American territory, the foreign and finance ministers of Canada decide to once again take steps along the path of extortion against a bullying neighbor.”

Baghaei added that Canada should be aware that it cannot both present itself as a champion of peace and security, freedom of navigation, and international law, and at the same time support what he called “American military aggression and its unlawful actions in the region.”

He said: “This is neither diplomacy nor a sign of responsible governance; rather it is a sign of strategic confusion and surrender to bullying.”
