🔻Iraqi phone call: Iraqchi’s phone call with the new Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation

🔻Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s foreign minister, spoke in a phone call with Ismail Wold Cheikh Ahmed, the new Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

Iran’s state news agency—IRNA—reported on the contents of the conversation, saying that the Iranian foreign minister asked Mr. Sheikh Ahmed to encourage member countries to “demonstrate, with regard to the violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and in response to resort to force and aggression,” what he called a “responsible reaction.”

Iran’s attacks on U.S. military bases in southern Gulf countries have strongly affected Tehran’s relations with Islamic countries. However, diplomatic contact and relations between Iran and these countries have not been cut off, and even diplomatic delegations have been traveling between Iran and Qatar and the UAE and holding consultations.
