🔻Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemns U.S. attacks on Iranian vessels

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, condemned U.S. attacks on “Iranian commercial vessels in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.”

In the statement, Iran called the U.S. attacks an “unlawful and aggressive act that continues the U.S. military aggression,” and said they constitute “a violation of the UN Charter, a war crime, and an overt threat to international peace and commercial shipping security.”

Iran added that “responsibility for the consequences arising from this continuation of the aggressive and meddling actions of the United States in the region will rest with the U.S. regime and its allies and partners.”

Hours earlier, CENTCOM said it had attacked three Iranian oil tankers, and Admiral Brad Cooper, the commander of CENTCOM, sent a message stating that: “Let the message to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps be clear: if you fire at two of our ships, we will impose a far heavier economic cost on you; that is, we will destroy three of your ships.”

According to CENTCOM’s statement on the X platform, the attack was carried out after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fired a ballistic missile at two U.S. Navy vessels that were patrolling in waters of the region.
