🔺Houthi fighters launched a wide-ranging attack to establish control of the Bab al-Mandab

▪Houthi rebels supported by the Islamic Republic in Yemen began a broad attack against the country’s government forces in the western fronts of the province of Taiz from early Thursday morning in order to consolidate their control over the Bab al-Mandab strait.

▪The attacks began with rocket and drone launches and then spread into ground clashes; clashes that have been described as the fiercest fighting since 2022.

▪Al Jazeera reported that the Houthis were able to make advances in several fronts in the areas of Maqbanah, Al-Mawza‘, and Jabal Habashi in the province of Taiz, triggering a new wave of displacement of civilians.

▪Agence France-Presse also reported that the fighting over the past two days has left at least 81 dead.
