France’s embassy in Tehran, in a post on its X account (formerly Twitter), strongly denied the claims made by the English-language newspaper “Tehran Times” about holding a confidential meeting of European and Asian diplomats at the residence of the French ambassador, and responded to it with a pointed remark.
Tehran Times had previously claimed that on July 20, a meeting was held at the French ambassador’s residence with the presence of ambassadors from several European countries, Japan, South Korea, and New Zealand, in which the issue of the withdrawal of British diplomats and coordination to exert political pressure on Iran was discussed; however, the French embassy, while fully rejecting the claim, wrote to “Tehran Times reporters”: “Next time, please check your information with your friends in Iran’s intelligence services, which have about ten cameras to monitor the French embassy. Unfortunately, no ceremony was held at our embassy on July 20.”
